22 January 2009, India

From 2007 to 2015 India will contribute 16% to the global light vehicle assembly growth. This boom is triggered primarily by factors like increase in disposable incomes and standards of living of middle class Indian families and the Indian government's liberalization measures. Further as travel has become an integral party of everyone's life, issues such as comfort and safety have taken on a high priority. All these factors clearly indicate brilliant prospects for the automotive textile industry which will lead to consequent increased demand of the technical textile components used in automobiles. Looking at the opportunities galore ICE (The Italian Trade Commission), ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacture) & BCH (Business Co-ordination House) along with a consortium of international companies organised the symposium on automotive textiles, 'Italian Technology for Automotive- Engineering Innovative Materials' on 22nd January, 2009 at Shangri-La Hotel, Ashoka Road, New Delhi.
