The stones, which are usually considered natural, are used as ornaments and jewellery: agates, quartz, cornelian, malachite, marble, alabaster, granite and earthenware. Marking on these materials can be deeper or not, depending on their capacity to dissipates heat.

On the stones used in jewellery it is possible to obtain a bas-relief effect, similar to cameos.
The surface of marble and alabaster loose its polishing and becomes whitish and satined.
Artistic applications, such like decoration of walls, tombstone, a.s.o. are very frequent.
